I Love a Parade!

We sit at the breakfast counter with two newspapers daily. In the letter section of one of them, we find:

I was forced to be late to work on Sunday thanks to the Wharf to Wharf race blocking my driveway. I couldn't get out and when I asked the cops standing nearby if they could block the race just for a moment so I could leave, I was laughed at and was basically told that I was out of luck. I'm surely not the only one who lives on that path who works weekends. Not everyone knew the Wharf to Wharf would be going on, and people shouldn't be forced to leave their homes far earlier than necessary just so they won't be blocked in. Maybe next year, they could just run it on one side of the street. This would slow the race, but fast or slow, win or lose, it doesn't affect your life. Getting fired and/or losing hours and pay because you're late does. Please consider this for next year.

In moments I go upstairs and I find a reference to an article in Truthdig by Gore Vidal.
